I have to figure out how much volume I need to be full.  Everybody has a certain amount of food it takes before they feel like they are done, and studies show that while you can ignore this temporarily, likely you will return to those volumes.  As far as I am concerned, that is a real basic of your weight management – knowing how many servings of veggies takes off the edge for you so that when you start on the other parts of the meal, it isn’t so hard not to overeat.  You are not “depriving yourself” by having less of the things you like more.  You are full already.  I had a client who dropped out of Weight Watchers precisely because this tool worked so well!

I remember a famous model (I think it was Christy Brinkley) once saying that in her limo on the way to a party she habitually ate a pound of ice cold string beans.  Other people, even those to whom you assume it comes naturally, have to work at it too.
