Why detox…really?
If you had ever told me that I would ever eat as cleanly as I do now, I wouldn’t have believed it. After all, I could accomplish my goal weight (read: look good on the outside) by taking control of my environment to balance calories, eat veggies and exercise – the skills that to this very I still spend most of my time teaching. By default running these annual detox groups and living super clean for one month a year has influenced me to change my diet in ways that I never really even intended – shameful though that may be to be coming from a nutritionist.
And that is the real benefit. Oh detoxing still serves as an incredible jump start, especially after the holidays and with the New Year and all that. It will still completely eliminate your cravings, restore energy and give you nights of good sleep. It has eliminated clients’ reflux, disappeared that rash that had just kept coming back, vanquished joint pain, removed the need for insulin and lowered lipids. It may even help fend off a host of neurological, inflammatory and autoimmune conditions to which toxicity has been shown to contribute. But the single greatest benefit that detoxing provides is giving you the experience of living clean and feeling better than you can remember feeling in years – and a set of healthy and now somehow livable tools that one by one can become part of your regular repertoire.
Jump start the New Year, put the brakes on all the holiday goodies, and set the tone for 2014 by joining us for the annual “Dump the Junk” liver cleanse group. Program options include the full out boot camp version (28 day) or 2 or 3 week modified versions. This group meets Wednesday evenings for the length of your program or you can create your own individual group. Read more…
