I think I always considered myself far too complex an individual for the simple solutions.  Making a menu, I thought, is for beginners, amateurs.  Controlling the environment?  For wimps.  Turns out, these simple steps will usually take care of about 80% of the task.  And the doing of them often generates enough of that seemingly magical substance called momentum that I am inclined to think is showered on me arbitrarily like fairy dust. What I didn’t realize at first was that I was always manufacturing it myself through lots of little, seemingly insignificant steps – often these very basics.  Anyway, if it is overkill, what have I got to lose?  But if I need to do them to keep a grip, and I don’t for whatever reason, what have I got to lose?
