Strategy: Delay gratification by saving the goodies for the end of the vacation.
Why: Especially on vacation I am walking a fine line anyway. If I love the pastries from a particular French bakery that I only ever go to when I am in this particular place, the ice cream from some local creamery, the popular rib place, I try to have them at the end of the trip, when I am going home soon and can get back on track. Many the vacation has become a free for all, requiring elasticized waistbands, because I caved big time at the very first opportunity – often even in the car or airport on the way.
